FedEx is updating the surcharges and fees they apply to peak packages for the upcoming 2020 Christmas season.
Peak surcharges apply during the busiest times of year and they’re in addition to the standard surcharges. This year, the peak season runs from 5th October 2020 to 17th January 2021.

Ground Unauthorized Package Charge
The Ground Unauthorized Package Charge is currently $875 USD. During the peak festive season an additional $350 USD surcharge will be added to the $875 USD Ground Unauthorized Package Charge.
When this fee applies
You may be charged if a package you deliver through FedEx is:
- more than 108 inches long
- more than 165 inches in length and width or depth combined
- more than 150 pounds
Packages that exceed these measurements may be refused for deliver, or returned to you, at FedEx Ground’s discretion.
Additional Handling Surcharge
The Additional Handling Surcharge for United States express package services, US and international ground services, and international express package services is currently $15 USD. During the peak festive season an additional $4.90 USD per package will be added to the standard Additional Handling Surcharge.
When this fee applies
You may be charged an Additional Handling Surcharge if a package you deliver through FedEx is:
- longer than 48 inches on its longest side
- longer than 30 inches on its second-longest side
- weighs more than 70 pounds
- packaged improperly

Oversize Charge
The current Oversize Charge is $100 USD per package. During the peak festive season an additional $52.50 USD per package will be added to the standard fee.
When this fee applies
Packages that exceed 96 inches in length or 130 inches in length and girth are considered oversized.
